No More Midnight Green – Dark Navy Will Replace Green iPhone 11 Pro Color…

Apple’s incoming iPhone 12 range of phones is fast-approaching. By the end of the year, you’ll have several new iPhones to choose from – iPhones that ALL have OLED displays and 5G connectivity.

One thing that will be changing, however, is that you will no longer be able to buy an iPhone in Midnight Green. According to reports, the green iPhone 11 Pro color is being replaced by Dark Navy inside the iPhone 12 range.

The news of the new iPhone 12 color comes via Max Weinbach, so it’s fairly legit and should be viewed as a strong potential. It is, of course, entirely possible that Apple will keep the Midnight Green color for its iPhone 12 phones and simply add in Dark Navy as another option.

That’d be great; more color options for iPhones is always better. However, Weinbach seems fairly confident that Apple’s binning its Midnight Green color in favor of Dark Navy. If this is indeed the case, it will mean the green iPhone 11 Pro color only lasted for one generation.

iPhone 12 Colors – What To Expect

Apple is expected to debut a bunch of new colors for its iPhone 12 range, including blue, violet, light orange, red, black, white, and, of course, Dark Navy.

How the colors will be used across the four iPhones inside Apple’s iPhone 12 range is not known – although it is likely the entry-level models (Apple’s iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max) will be available in the most color options – just like the iPhone XR and iPhone 11.

All iPhone 12 Models Compared (How They’ll Be Different)

  • iPhone 12 – The iPhone 12 will run on Apple’s A14 CPU, feature a 5.4in OLED display, and will be the cheapest iPhone in the iPhone 12 range.
  • iPhone 12 Max – The iPhone 12 Max will replace the iPhone 11; it will have a 6.1in OLED display and run on Apple’s A14 CPU. It will be the second most cheap iPhone 12 model.
  • iPhone 12 Pro The iPhone 12 Pro will be the “small” flagship iPhone 12 model; it will feature a 6.1in OLED display and a more advanced camera array than the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max.
  • iPhone 12 Pro Max The iPhone 12 Pro Max will be Apple’s true flagship release; it will feature a 6.7in OLED display, the largest battery of any phone in Apple’s iPhone 12 range, and it will cost the most.

The main difference between the Pro and Non-Pro models inside the iPhone 12 range will be to do with the camera. According to reports, the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro max will feature a time-of-flight (ToF) 3D camera similar to the one used inside the 2020 iPad Pro.

Apple currently has an exclusive on SONY’s ToF sensor, it is currently the best example of ToF technology on the market, and this is why Samsung nixed its ToF camera from its Galaxy Note 20 range.

Expect Apple to really push this new camera feature at launch.

When Can I Buy The iPhone 12?

Apple is expected to ship up to 80 million iPhone 12 units before the close of 2020. If these numbers stack up, and many believe they will, the iPhone 12 could represent a new super-cycle for Apple’s iPhone – the first since 2014’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus release.

The iPhone 12 range will get a staggered release during Q4 of 2020, thanks to COVID 19, with the standard iPhone 12 models launching first, followed by the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro models at a slightly later date.
