We review the NYTimes, an iPhone app to match the leading US paper
Published on Oct 12, 2009
The New York Times is probably the most popular newspaper across the pond, so for all those interested in what’s going on out West, the newspaper has launched a news app for the iPhone.
NYTimes is also the most in depth news application on the iPhone if you’re looking for breaking news.
The first tab is a list of the latest stories that you can refresh as and when you like. The second tab is the most popular stories.
Open up each story and you can adjust the text size and email the stories. You can save any news you want to view later, which is extremely handy if your commute to work includes travelling without signal.
At the top of each story, there are previous and next icons in the top right hand side, so you can scroll through the stories to get up to date whenever you wish.
Tap on ‘more’ and you’re taken to an extensive list of categories, including arts, health, NY/region (local New York news), obituaries, opinion, politics, T Magazine content and technology.
The only foible we have with the NY Times application is the ads along the bottom of the ad. Other free news apps don’t feature ads, so it’s slightly disappointing to see them here.
