We all hate paying money out of our salaries before we even get to see the money, but unfortunately it’s a necessary evil - and one that is made slightly less painful by setting our expectations.

HMRC does have guidance online as to what the tax bands are and what relief is available, but you don’t always have your desktop/laptop and an internet connection handy. This app takes care of that.

In addition to helping you calculate what you need to give the government this year, the app also includes legacy tax data so you can check you’re not owed money from over payments, or indeed get your house in order if you’ve underpaid.

And it’s not all guess work. By entering your tax code the app can give you more precise guidance as to entitlements and requirements.

Once you’ve filled in a simple form with items like tax code, NI class and salary, you’ll be presented with a simple page that breaks down your gross income, deductions and net income. And you can look at this info broken down to weekly, monthly and annually too to help work out what’s coming in and going out and when.
