Google has blocked the release of its Nexus Q media hub, claiming it wants to make it even better

Google has delayed the commercial release of its Nexus Q media hub, which was scheduled to begin shipping to consumers this week.

The Google I/O 2012-launched Nexus Q is aimed at taking on Apple TV and Sonos by bringing Android to the core of your home entertainment system. At least that was the plan.

Google has now decided to delay the commercial release of the device, following initial – not-so-positive – feedback from developers that took home the device after the company’s I/O 2012 developer conference.

In an email to consumers that had pre-ordered the Nexus Q, Google said, ‘we decided to postpone the consumer launch of Nexus Q while we work on making it even better.’

The Nexus Q is now listed as ‘not for sale at this time’ on the company’s Play store.

Google has, however, accepted its mistake and offered disappointed consumers something to be smile about: anyone that pre-ordered the device will now get it for free once it’s commercially available. See, every cloud does have a silver lining.

Google has yet to confirm with Know Your Mobile when it will be done making the Nexus Q even better, indicating that if you pre-ordered the device you could be waiting a while before your free one arrives.

More news as we get it.
