The Xperia X10 is potentially one of the most exciting Android handsets to date

The Sony Ericsson X10 will be on the shelves from the 19th of February if internet retailer Play's release date is accurate.
We know that the pre-order page has been up for a while, and that it initially showed a shipping date earlier than the 19/02/2010 but this most recent update, which includes a drop in price from £529.99 to £499.99, is much more in line with our recent reports suggesting that Sony Ericsson has the X10 slated for a February release in the UK.
The Android powered handset is listed as shipping with Android 1.6 but we'd be surprised to see it arrive with anything less than Android 2.0 under the hood and an update to 2.1 in the pipeline.
Other notable specs for the first Android powered Sony Ericsson X10 include:
- 4-inch (854x480 pixel) capacitive touchscreen display
- 8-megapixel camera with touch/auto-focus & LED-flash
- HSDPA connectivity
- Wi-Fi
- Snapdragon 1Ghz processor
- A-GPS
- Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP
The handset will also arrive pre-loaded with Sony Ericsson's Timescape and Mediascape applications that provides access to all your media and social networking functions in an integrated, and slick fashion.
There's still no official confirmation of this launch date, but we'll get back to you as soon as Sony Ericsson goes public with it.
