Sony's update schedule for Android Jelly Bean will be announced in the middle of December, the company has revealed

Sony has revealed it will announce its plans for rolling out Android Jelly Bean updates to its Xperia smartphone catalogue in ‘mid-December’.

The company dished the news when it answered user questions via its official Twitter handle @SonyMobileNews.

The reveal follows Sony’s earlier announcement of which devices would see the upgrade to Jelly Bean. The list only comprises the company’s 2012 range and includes the Xperia T, Xperia TX, Xperia V, Xperia S, Xperia Acro S, Xperia Ion, Xperia P, Xperia Go and Xperia J.

An earlier leak suggests the most recent models, the Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V, will be updated by around February 2013, likely in time for Mobile World Congress (MWC).

Jelly Bean will introduce a slicker version of Android with faster performance, better stability and an improved interface which is smoother thanks to Google's 'Butter UI'. It also adds the Google Now app, amongst other tweaks.
