Lenovo could be gearing up to release a new version if its IdeaPad Yoga tablet loaded with Android

Lenovo is planning on expanding its IdeaPad Yoga range to include Android variants using Intel and/or ARM processor chips according to reports.

The news comes via DigiTimes which cites unnamed ‘industry sources’ for the information and claims the move falls in-line with previous discussions between Intel and Lenovo on the subject of Android tablet products.

Allegedly an Intel Medfield-based Android slate was on the cards for Q3 2012 but was delayed due to the tide of Windows 8/Windows RT hardware, new iPads and low-cost Android devices stealing much of the limelight.

Apparently the new Android variant(s) will coincide with the launch of the Yoga 11S, a Windows 8 convertible with an Intel Core i5 and 11.6-inch HD IPS LCD touchscreen expected to arrive in June.

Lenovo’s recent Windows 8 devices have received positive comment in reviews regarding the build quality and in particular the IdeaPad Yoga range seems to be favoured over the rather more fiddly ThinkPad Twist as a more usable and convenient option.

In this regard it makes sense for the company to want to maximise on the design with an Android model too.
