HTC Android Ice Cream Sandwich rollout begins
HTC has started pushing the Android 4.0 update for its Sensation range with other models to follow
HTC's global community manager, Darren Krape, has taken to the company's blog page to reveal its Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) rollout in a bit more detail and it seems the Sensation and Sensation XE are getting the upgrade first.
‘We're in the early stages of rolling out Android 4.0 for the HTC Sensation and HTC Sensation XE and upgrades will be more widely available in the next few weeks,' he said, ‘The update for the HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XL will follow.'
So essentially, if you have a Sensation range HTC phone you've not got long to wait.
Krape also listed all confirmed models in the company's range which will be getting the ICS update in the coming months, though precise dates for each model are yet to be revealed.
In terms of UK releases, the confirmed list includes the Desire S, Desire HD, Evo 3D, Incredible S and the Rhyme, as well as the aforementioned Sensation trio.
Krape did take the time to reiterate that carriers might be slower to push the update on branded devices, however, saying:
‘Please note, once we start pushing out updates it will take time for all carriers in each country to get the update.'
