HTC Runneymede to be known as HTC Sensation XL at retail
HTC’s 4.7-inch Runneymede smartphone will be known as the Sensation XL when it lands in the UK, a new report has revealed
The HTC Runneymede will be known as the HTC Sensation XL when it arrives at retail stores in the UK.
The news comes via Pocket Now, which reports the ‘the HTC Runnymede will launch as the HTC Sensation XL, according to a reliable source, and not the HTC Bass, as previously rumoured.’
The Sensation XL will be one of the first HTC handsets to feature Dr. Dre’s Beats technology, following the successful acquisition of the company by HTC a few months back.
We’re not sure what level of difference the Beats audio will make, if we’re honest. We’re not massive fans of the headphones as they’re extremely expensive for what they are and no way near as good as Dr. Dre would have you believe.
Having said that, in a market place that’s completely dominated by Android, companies like HTC need to separate themselves from the pack – and the inclusion of Beats audio technology is as good a way as any.
The Sensation XL also ships with Beats headphones. Users will have a choice of two distinct types: earbuds or over the ear cans. The latter are part of a ‘special edition’ package and will presumably cost more.
Specs-wise, the Sensation XL is said to be packing a 1.5GHz processor, 4.7-inch display and that all-important Beats audio technology.
HTC is expected to announce the HTC Sensation XL on October 7, 2011.
