The HTC Hero will receive an update to version 2.1 of the Android OS in February.
The rumour popped up on the Polish site Android.com.pl and comes from an anonymous source at HTC Poland, who has confirmed that the window for the Europe-wide update is somewhere around the 15th-17th February.
Naturally this won't include network specific versions of the handset, which will need to be obtained separately from individual operators.
Skipping straight from 1.6 to 2.1 means that the HTC Hero will be brought bang up to date, offering owners the benefits of new features on a handset that may be losing some of its lustre in the shadow of its competitors.
