Apple Watch March 21 Announcement: Price Slashed To $299
Apple was rumoured to be launching an Apple Watch 2, but instead it just chopped the price
Well that was a bit of a damp squib for fans of wearables. There'd been much anticipation of Apple's big March 21 event, and part of that hype was the idea of a revamped Apple Watch, dubbed the Apple Watch 2, or at least some big news about a related initiative, service, or feature that Apple was going to push.
What actually happened? Apple released a "spring lineup" of new watch bands in various colours, including a new woven nylon design, then it revealed the price of the Apple Watch is being reduced to $299. Presumably, Apple is referring to the entry-level model, the Apple Watch Sport, which originally retailed at $349 for the 38mm size, and $399 for the 42mm size. The firm did not yet mention whether there are price drops for its higher-end models, which is simply called the Apple Watch. We're awaiting to hear more from Apple on the subject and will update you as and when we hear further details.
