When Is The iPhone 18 Coming Out? Release Date TL;DR
Apple hasn’t confirmed a date. Based on its normal release schedule and current reporting, here’s when to expect the iPhone 18 lineup to land.
The iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max and foldable iPhone are expected to be announced at Apple’s September event.
UK and US pre-orders for the Pro models should open between September 10 and 12, 2026.
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to go on sale on September 18 โ Apple’s typical release Friday two weeks after an event.
The foldable may be announced in September but limited production could push its UK and US release back to October 2026.
The standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2 are not expected in 2026. Those three models should launch in the UK and US around March or April 2027.
Apple has not confirmed any of these dates. September 18 is based on its normal release schedule and current reporting โ all details could change.

Apple has not announced the iPhone 18 release date yet. Current reporting points to two separate launches, with the expensive models arriving in September 2026 and the standard models following in spring 2027.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to receive a wide international release on September 18, 2026. Appleโs foldable iPhone could arrive at the same time, although manufacturing problems may push it into October or later.
The iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and second-generation iPhone Air are expected between March and April 2027. All models are expected to be signifcantly more expensive than 2026’s lineup too.
Expected iPhone 18 Release Schedule

None of these dates has been confirmed by Apple.
When Will Apple Announce The iPhone 18 Pro?
Bloombergโs Mark Gurman has identified September 8 or September 9, 2026 as the most likely dates for Appleโs next iPhone event.
September 9 now looks more likely because US Labor Day falls on Monday, September 7. Apple may leave a full travel day between the public holiday and its event.
The expected event lineup includes:
- iPhone 18 Pro
- iPhone 18 Pro Max
- Appleโs first foldable iPhone
- Apple Watch Series 12
- Apple Watch Ultra 4
- Other accessories and home products
The standard iPhone 18 is not expected at this event.
When Will iPhone 18 Pro Preorders Open?
The preorder date is less clear than usual.
Apple normally opens iPhone preorders on the Friday following its announcement. That would make Friday, September 11 the obvious date.
However, September 11, 2026 marks 25 years since the terrorist attacks in the US. Apple could avoid opening preorders on that date.
Reported alternatives include:
- Thursday, September 10
- Saturday, September 12
Gurman has suggested Apple could move preorders to September 10. A newer report points to Saturday, September 12.
The preorder date should apply worldwide in Appleโs first-wave markets.
When Will The iPhone 18 Pro Go On Sale?
Friday, September 18, 2026 is the most likely retail release date for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.
Apple normally starts deliveries and in-store sales on the Friday following the preorder window.
If Apple holds its event later than expected, the release could move to September 25. There is currently no strong evidence that the Pro models will be delayed that far.
iPhone 18 Pro Release Dates By Region
Apple normally releases its flagship iPhones simultaneously across more than 60 countries and regions.
The table below uses Appleโs reported September timetable and the first-wave markets included in the iPhone 17 launch. It is an informed estimate, not a confirmed country list.
| Country or region | Expected announcement | Expected preorder period | Expected retail release |

| Indonesia | September 9 local time | Not known | Likely later than first-wave markets |
| South Africa | September 8 or 9 | Not known | September 18 or a later wave |
The dates refer to the Pro and Pro Max. The foldable may have a narrower country rollout.
First-Wave Markets
Apple made the iPhone 17 available in more than 63 countries and regions on its first release day.
Named first-wave markets included:
- Australia
- Canada
- China
- Colombia
- France
- Germany
- India
- Japan
- Malaysia
- Mexico
- Singapore
- South Korea
- Thailand
- Tรผrkiye
- United Arab Emirates
- United Kingdom
- United States
- Vietnam
Apple also released the phone across many other European, Asian and Gulf markets on the same date.
Unless Apple encounters production or regulatory problems, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max should follow a similarly broad international rollout.
Second-Wave Markets
With the iPhone 17, Apple expanded availability to another 22 countries and regions one week after the initial launch.
If Apple repeats that pattern, its second release wave could begin on Friday, September 25, 2026.
Second-wave availability generally covers smaller markets, countries without a direct Apple retail presence and countries requiring additional regulatory or distribution work.
Apple has not released the iPhone 18 country list, so individual second-wave markets cannot yet be confirmed.
Foldable iPhone Release Date
Appleโs foldable iPhone, currently known as the iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra, is expected to be announced on September 8 or 9, 2026.
Its actual release date is less certain.
Current possibilities include:
- September 18 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro
- Later in September with limited stock
- October 2026
- A later release before the end of 2026
Reuters reported that Apple encountered more engineering problems than expected during early test production. Bloomberg subsequently reported that Apple was still working towards a September launch.
Later supply-chain reports claimed the foldable had entered mass production and remained on schedule for September.
This means Apple could announce it in September but delay preorders or deliveries, similar to the original iPhone X rollout in 2017.
Will The Foldable Launch Worldwide?
There is no confirmed country list for Appleโs first foldable.
A limited initial launch is possible because:
- Production volumes will be lower than for the Pro models.
- The folding display and hinge are harder to manufacture.
- Early production yields have reportedly been inconsistent.
- The phone may be eSIM only.
- Apple may prioritise countries with its own stores and carrier support.
- A price above $2,000 will limit demand in some markets.
The most likely first markets are:
- United States
- United Kingdom
- Canada
- Australia
- Japan
- China, subject to eSIM approval
- Hong Kong
- Singapore
- South Korea
- France
- Germany
- Other major EU markets
- United Arab Emirates
- Saudi Arabia
This is an estimate based on Appleโs normal flagship distribution. No source has produced a dependable final foldable country list.
Could The Foldable Be Delayed In China?
China is the market with the clearest chance of a model-specific delay.
The foldable is expected to be eSIM only because its thin body does not leave room for a physical SIM tray.
Apple previously had to delay the original iPhone Air in mainland China while waiting for regulatory approval for its eSIM implementation. China traditionally requires locally approved carrier support and has not supported iPhone eSIMs in the same way as other markets.
If Apple does not create a physical-SIM version of the foldable, its Chinese release could depend on:
- Approval from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology
- Support from China Mobile
- Support from China Telecom
- Support from China Unicom
- In-person customer identity checks
The normal iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max should not face the same problem if Apple continues producing physical-SIM versions for mainland China.
Could The Foldable Be Delayed In Other Regions?
An eSIM-only foldable should work without regulatory problems in most of Appleโs largest markets.
Apple already sells eSIM-only versions of some iPhones in:
- United States
- Canada
- Japan
- Mexico
- Bahrain
- Kuwait
- Oman
- Qatar
- Saudi Arabia
- United Arab Emirates
The foldable could still receive limited stock in these countries because of manufacturing volume rather than carrier restrictions.
Indonesia Release Date
Indonesia does not normally receive new iPhones on exactly the same timetable as Appleโs largest launch markets.
New phones require local certification and must comply with Indonesiaโs domestic-content regulations. These rules caused a lengthy delay to the iPhone 16.
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max could therefore arrive several weeks after the September 18 international release. October or later is a more realistic estimate, but no Indonesian date has been reported.
The foldable could take longer if it requires separate regulatory approval.
India Release Date
India is now one of Appleโs established first-wave markets.
The iPhone 17 became available in India on the same day as it did in the US, UK, China, Japan and Europe.
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max should therefore be available in India on September 18, assuming Apple follows the same schedule.
Apple has also expanded iPhone manufacturing in India. That should reduce the chance of a regional delay, although it does not guarantee that every configuration will be available immediately.
UK Release Date
The expected UK timetable is:
- Announcement: September 8 or 9, 2026
- Preorders: September 10, 11 or 12
- iPhone 18 Pro release: September 18
- iPhone 18 Pro Max release: September 18
- Foldable release: September 18 at the earliest, possibly October
- iPhone 18 release: March or April 2027
- iPhone 18e release: March or April 2027
- iPhone Air 2 release: March or April 2027, if it launches
The UK is almost certain to be included in the first release wave.
US Release Date
The expected US timetable is the same:
- Apple event: September 8 or 9, 2026
- Preorders: September 10, 11 or 12
- Pro and Pro Max release: September 18
- Foldable: September 18 at the earliest, with October possible
- Standard iPhone 18 family: March or April 2027
The US should receive all new models in Appleโs first wave.
European Release Date
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max should arrive across most of Europe on September 18.
Likely first-day markets include:
- UK
- France
- Germany
- Spain
- Italy
- Netherlands
- Belgium
- Ireland
- Austria
- Switzerland
- Denmark
- Sweden
- Norway
- Finland
- Poland
- Portugal
Smaller European markets could be included in either the first or second wave.
There is no evidence of an EU-wide delay. Individual software functions may differ because of EU rules, but that should not stop the phones themselves going on sale.
China Release Date
The Pro models should follow the normal global schedule:
- Preorders: approximately September 11 or 12
- Release: September 18
Mainland Chinese iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to retain a physical SIM tray. Their battery capacities may therefore be slightly smaller than equivalent eSIM-only models.
The foldable is the exception. Its reported eSIM-only design could lead to a separate release date.
Japan Release Date
Japan should receive the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max on September 18.
Apple now sells eSIM-only iPhone configurations in Japan, so the foldable should be technically compatible with the local market.
Stock availability could still be restricted during the first few weeks.
Australia And New Zealand Release Dates
Australia should receive the Pro models on September 18.
New Zealand normally follows the same general release window, although Appleโs final country announcement will determine whether it is included on the first day.
Because of the time-zone difference, online preorders may technically open on September 11, 12 or 13 locally, even though the international preorder launch is described using a US date.
Gulf Release Dates
Appleโs main Gulf markets are expected to receive the Pro models on September 18.
Likely first-wave countries include:
- United Arab Emirates
- Saudi Arabia
- Qatar
- Kuwait
- Bahrain
- Oman
These markets already support Appleโs eSIM-only iPhone models, making them likely candidates for the initial foldable launch.
When Will The Standard iPhone 18 Be Released?
The standard iPhone 18 is expected in the first half of 2027.
Most reports narrow this down to spring, with March the most commonly mentioned month. April remains possible.
The move has been reported by:
- Ming-Chi Kuo
- The Information
- ETNews
- Nikkei Asia
- Bloomberg
- Apple supply-chain sources
Apple is reportedly moving towards two iPhone launch periods every year:
- Premium phones in September
- Standard and lower-cost phones in spring
The standard iPhone 18 should receive a broad international release rather than being restricted to a few countries.
iPhone 18 Release Dates By Region
| Region | Expected standard iPhone 18 release |
|---|---|
| United States | March or April 2027 |
| United Kingdom | March or April 2027 |
| Canada | March or April 2027 |
| Australia | March or April 2027 |
| New Zealand | March or April 2027 |
| Mainland China | March or April 2027 |
| Hong Kong | March or April 2027 |
| Japan | March or April 2027 |
| India | March or April 2027 |
| South Korea | March or April 2027 |
| Southeast Asia | March or April 2027, with some later markets possible |
| European Union | March or April 2027 |
| Switzerland and Norway | March or April 2027 |
| Gulf countries | March or April 2027 |
| Mexico | March or April 2027 |
| Brazil | March or April 2027, or a later local release |
| Indonesia | Later release possible because of certification |
| South Africa | March or April 2027, or a later distribution wave |
No source has reported separate dates for individual countries. These estimates assume Apple gives the standard phone a rollout similar to its existing flagship models.
iPhone 18e Release Date
The iPhone 18e is also expected during the first half of 2027.
March is currently the likeliest month because Apple launched the iPhone 16e and iPhone 17e during the first quarter of their respective years.
The 18e could be announced through a press release rather than at a physical event.
Apple may open orders immediately after the announcement and begin deliveries approximately one week later.
The 18e is expected to receive a wide release in:
- United States
- Canada
- UK
- Major European markets
- China
- Japan
- India
- Australia
- South Korea
- Southeast Asia
- Gulf markets
Smaller markets could follow later.
iPhone Air 2 Release Date
The iPhone Air 2 is now expected in 2027.
Bloomberg, The Information and Nikkei Asia have all pointed away from a 2026 release. The most likely window is March or April 2027 alongside the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e.
Its release is less certain than the other models.
Apple could:
- Release it alongside the iPhone 18
- Release it later in 2027
- Change its screen size or positioning
- Skip the planned generation entirely
China could again be a problem if the new Air remains eSIM only. The original model required separate regulatory approval in the country.
The Dates That Matter
The current timetable is:
- September 8 or 9, 2026: Expected Apple event
- September 10, 11 or 12: Expected preorder opening
- September 14 or 15: Expected iOS 27 public release
- September 18: Expected iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max retail release
- September or October: Possible foldable iPhone release
- September 25: Possible second-wave international release
- March or April 2027: Expected iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2 release
Only the two broad release windows are supported by repeated reporting. The individual dates are based on Appleโs usual schedule and have not been confirmed.
