Change the N70's Standby keys and applications
Sandra Vogel
To view the standby screen you can either leave your Nokia N70 untouched for a moment or click the Nokia Menu button twice
The Standby screen is a very useful feature of the Nokia N70. We show how you customise it to display the stuff you use most often
The default Standby screen of your Nokia N70 is the one you'll most often see as it reverts to this screen automatically.
So it makes sense to ensure that the five shortcuts to applications at the top of the screen and the two shortcut buttons are set to functions and features that you use regularly.
To view the standby screen you can either leave your Nokia N70 untouched for a moment or click the Nokia Menu button (to the left of the 1 and 4 buttons) to toggle between the Menu acreen and the Standby screens (see figure 1)
- Click the Nokia Menu button again to go to the Menu screen and then click on the Tools icon ( figure 2)
- In the Tools screen click on Settings (see figure 3)
- In the Settings screen click on Phone (see figure 4)
- Highlight and click on Standby mode (figure 5)
- Make sure that Active Standby is set to On. Then highlight and click Left selection key. Choose the function you want this key to activate - we've chosen New text message (figure 6)
- Now do the same with the Right selection key option. We've chosen to use it as a shortcut to the Salling clicker application (figure 7)
- Now highlight and click Active standby apps. You can now pick which five application shortcuts appear in the Standby screen (figure 8). When you have finished press the Nokia Menu button twice to return to the Standby screen
