Pixel 11 Battery: What You Need To Know
Google is promising longer battery life and faster charging, but most Pixel 11 models do not receive larger batteries. In fact, three of the four models have smaller batteries than their predecessors.

Google advertises more than 30 hours for the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL. The Pro Fold retains the older 24-hour claim.
It does not use the widely rumoured 2nm process. Google says certain on-device AI tasks can run up to 3.5 times faster while using up to 3.5 times less energy.
The Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro move from 15W to 25W wireless charging.
Google says the Pixel 11 Pro XL can reach around 75% in 30 minutes, compared with 70% for the Pixel 10 Pro XL.
Google’s 30-hour figure is a manufacturer claim. Proper testing is needed before we know whether the smaller batteries produce better everyday battery life.
Google has made a rather bold battery claim for the Pixel 11 series.
Despite barely changing the battery capacities, and actually reducing them on three models, Google now says the standard Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL can last for more than 30 hours.
The equivalent Pixel 10 phones were advertised as 24-hour devices.
On paper, that sounds like a battery-life increase of at least 25%. But it hasnโt come from cramming much larger batteries inside the phones. Google is betting on its new Tensor G6 processor, a more efficient AI engine, Android 17 power management and faster wireless charging.
Will it work? Hereโs what the numbers tell us so far.
Pixel 11 versus Pixel 10 battery capacities
The battery-capacity changes are surprisingly small, with the Pixel 11 Pro Fold being the only major exception.

Put into percentages, the differences are even smaller:
- Pixel 11: approximately 0.3% larger
- Pixel 11 Pro: approximately 0.4% smaller
- Pixel 11 Pro XL: approximately 1.6% smaller
- Pixel 11 Pro Fold: approximately 5.3% smaller
For the standard Pixel 11, Pro and Pro XL, the capacity changes are too small to matter by themselves.
A 15mAh increase isnโt going to produce several additional hours of use. Likewise, an 85mAh reduction shouldnโt suddenly ruin the Pixel 11 Pro XL.
The Fold is different. Losing 265mAh while still having to power two displays could have a real effect, especially when using the larger internal screen.

A compatible charger is required, and Google does not include one in the box.
The Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro require a USB-C PPS charger rated at 30W or higher to reach Googleโs quoted wired speeds. The Pro XL needs a 45W USB-C PPS charger.
Does the Pixel 11 have better battery life than the Pixel 10?
Google says it does.
The Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL were sold with a โ24+ hourโ battery claim. Google has increased this to โ30+ hoursโ for the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL.
That looks like a six-hour improvement, or 25% more claimed runtime.
But thereโs an important catch: manufacturer battery estimates arenโt the same as controlled battery tests.
Googleโs figures are based on an average Pixel user profile involving a mixture of talking, data, standby and other features. Changes to the test profile, Android version, network conditions, display settings or enabled AI services can alter the result.
Until the Pixel 11 series has been tested against the Pixel 10 series under identical conditions, we cannot confidently say every model lasts 25% longer.
A more sensible expectation would be:
- Slightly better standby performance
- Lower drain during light everyday use
- Better efficiency when using newer local AI tools
- Potentially lower mobile-data drain
- Similar or modestly improved screen-on time
- No major battery breakthrough during gaming or extended camera use
Google appears to have improved how efficiently the phone uses its battery, rather than giving it a much larger battery.
Pixel 11 battery capacity explained
Google Pixel 11: 4,985mAh
The standard Pixel 11 has a typical battery capacity of 4,985mAh, up from 4,970mAh in the Pixel 10.
That is effectively no change at all.
The more interesting figure is Googleโs runtime claim. The Pixel 10 was rated for more than 24 hours, while the Pixel 11 is rated for more than 30 hours.
The Pixel 11 also gains:
- Tensor G6 processor
- 25W Pixelsnap wireless charging
- Qi2.2 certification
- Up to 55% wired charging in approximately 30 minutes
- 30-hour claimed battery life
- 4,985mAh typical capacity
- 4,840mAh minimum capacity
The standard model should be one of the safer battery choices because its 6.3-inch display runs at between 60Hz and 120Hz and has a lower resolution than the Pro display.
However, it lacks the Pro modelโs LTPO panel, which can reduce its refresh rate to 1Hz when displaying static content.
That gives us an interesting comparison. The standard Pixel 11 has a slightly larger battery, but the Pixel 11 Pro has a more power-efficient LTPO display.
The standard model may last longer during heavier continuous use, while the Pro could perform better during mixed use involving reading, messaging and time spent on static screens.
Google Pixel 11 Pro: 4,850mAh
The Pixel 11 Pro has a 4,850mAh battery, 20mAh smaller than the Pixel 10 Proโs 4,870mAh cell.
Again, the difference is tiny. Twenty milliamp-hours represents less than half of one percent.
The Pixel 11 Pro has:
- 4,850mAh typical battery
- 30+ hour claimed battery life
- 1Hz to 120Hz LTPO display
- Up to 55% wired charging in 30 minutes
- Pixelsnap wireless charging up to 25W
- Tensor G6
- 16GB of RAM on selected configurations
Its LTPO display is one of its main battery advantages.
If youโre reading an article, looking at a photograph or using the always-on display, the refresh rate can drop much lower than the standard Pixel 11โs 60Hz floor. This reduces the number of times the display redraws the image every second.
The effect wonโt be dramatic while watching 120Hz content or playing games, but it can help across a full day of mixed use.
The Pixel 11 Pro also has a brighter 3,600-nit display. Maximum brightness consumes more power, so battery life outdoors could be lower if the display spends long periods near its top brightness.
Google Pixel 11 Pro XL: 5,115mAh
The Pixel 11 Pro XL has the largest battery in the series at 5,115mAh.
However, it is 85mAh smaller than the 5,200mAh battery inside the Pixel 10 Pro XL.
That reduction is unlikely to matter much if Tensor G6 delivers even a small efficiency improvement. The XL also benefits from a 1Hz to 120Hz LTPO display, although its larger 6.8-inch panel naturally consumes more power than the 6.3-inch Pro screen.
The Pixel 11 Pro XL offers:
- 5,115mAh battery
- 30+ hour claimed battery life
- Up to 75% charge in approximately 30 minutes
- 45W USB-C PPS charger support
- 25W Pixelsnap wireless charging
- 1Hz to 120Hz LTPO display
- 3,600-nit peak brightness
Google says 15 minutes of charging can provide up to 15 hours of battery life. As always, that figure is based on Googleโs usage profile, not 15 hours of gaming, video recording or navigation.
The Pixel 11 Pro XL is likely to be the best Pixel 11 for heavy users. Its larger battery provides more room for sustained camera use, navigation, video and mobile data.
Its charging improvement is useful too. The Pixel 10 Pro XL could reach approximately 70% in 30 minutes. The Pixel 11 Pro XL increases that to 75%.
Five percentage points doesnโt sound like much, but on a 5,115mAh battery it represents roughly another 256mAh added during the same charging period.
Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold: 4,750mAh
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is the model Iโd be most cautious about.
Google has reduced the battery from 5,015mAh in the Pixel 10 Pro Fold to 4,750mAh. That is a 265mAh reduction, or approximately 5.3%.
The Fold must power:
- A 6.5-inch external display
- An 8-inch internal folding display
- Tensor G6
- 16GB of RAM
- Three rear cameras
- Additional hinge and display-control hardware
- New on-device Gemini functions
Google has kept its official battery claim at more than 24 hours, rather than increasing it to 30 hours like the other Pixel 11 phones.
That tells us quite a lot.
Tensor G6 may be helping compensate for the smaller battery, but Google evidently wasnโt confident enough to give the Fold the same 30-hour rating.
The smaller battery has helped Google make the phone thinner and lighter, but battery life is likely to depend heavily on how often you use the internal display.
If you mostly operate it through the external screen and unfold it occasionally, the Fold may get through a normal day comfortably.
If you spend hours using the 8-inch screen for video, games, editing or multitasking, expect it to drain faster than the Pixel 11 Pro XL.
How Tensor G6 could improve Pixel 11 battery life
Tensor G6 is the main reason Google can claim longer battery life without increasing battery capacity.
It is manufactured by TSMC using a 3nm process. Earlier reports claimed it would be a 2nm processor, but Google has since confirmed that this was not the case.
Moving to a smaller and more refined manufacturing process can reduce power leakage and allow the chip to complete certain tasks using less energy.
But process size alone doesnโt determine battery life. CPU design, modem efficiency, software scheduling, display behaviour, thermal control and AI workloads all matter.
Faster tasks can use less total energy
Google says Tensor G6 delivers:
- 25% faster web browsing
- 15% faster app launches
- 50% more TPU compute
- Up to 3.5 times faster on-device AI processing
- Up to 3.5 times lower energy use for certain AI tasks
The wording is important. Google is not claiming that the entire phone uses 3.5 times less power.
The claim applies to particular on-device AI workloads running through the new TPU and Gemini Nano model.
If a task previously kept the AI processor active for ten seconds but can now be completed in three seconds, the phone can return to a lower-power state sooner. That can reduce the total energy used, even if peak power draw is similar.
This could help with features such as:
- Live transcription
- Voice processing
- Camera image analysis
- Magic Capture
- Language translation
- Gemini Intelligence
- Scam detection
- Call screening
- Photo editing
- Sign-language recognition
- On-device summaries
The more frequently you use these tools, the more relevant the TPU efficiency becomes.
If you barely touch Pixelโs AI features, you may see less benefit.
Better thermal control matters too
Heat and battery drain are closely connected.
When a processor runs hot, it can waste energy and reduce performance to protect itself. This is known as thermal throttling.
Tensor-powered Pixels have historically received complaints about warmth during mobile-data use, gaming, video recording and navigation. Tensor G5 improved matters, but it still didnโt match the best Snapdragon-powered phones for sustained efficiency.
Tensor G6 has been designed around faster task completion and lower-power local AI. If it runs cooler under normal workloads, that could help battery life and provide more consistent performance.
But this still needs independent thermal testing. Faster hardware doesnโt automatically mean cooler hardware, particularly when gaming or recording high-resolution video.
Could the new modem improve battery life?
Mobile connectivity is one of the largest battery drains inside any phone.
The effect is especially noticeable when:
- 5G reception is weak
- Travelling between cell towers
- Using navigation in a car
- Uploading photographs or video
- Using the phone as a hotspot
- Running two active SIMs
- Moving in and out of buildings
- Using mmWave 5G
Reporting around Tensor G6 has pointed to Google moving away from Samsungโs Exynos modem and adopting MediaTekโs M90 modem.
MediaTek has claimed that the M90 can reduce average power consumption by as much as 18% compared with selected competing modems. That does not mean the Pixel 11โs total battery life improves by 18%. The claim concerns modem power consumption under MediaTekโs test conditions.
If the modem is more efficient in practice, the biggest gains could appear when using mobile data rather than Wi-Fi.
That would be good news for Pixel owners who have previously experienced rapid drain on 5G or in areas with weak reception.
However, Googleโs public specifications do not clearly identify the modem by model name. Until hardware teardowns and network tests confirm the configuration, I would treat modem-specific battery gains as promising rather than guaranteed.
The brighter displays could offset some efficiency gains
Every Pixel 11 receives a brighter display:
- Pixel 11 reaches up to 3,000 nits
- Pixel 11 Pro reaches up to 3,600 nits
- Pixel 11 Pro XL reaches up to 3,600 nits
- Pixel 11 Pro Fold reaches up to 3,600 nits
Those figures refer to short-term peak brightness, not the brightness youโll see across the entire screen all day.
Even so, brighter displays consume more power when driven at high levels. If you spend a lot of time outdoors with adaptive brightness turned on, some of Tensor G6โs efficiency gains could be cancelled out by the display.
Indoors, where the screen operates at a much lower brightness, the new processor and LTPO technology should have more room to improve endurance.
This is why battery testing needs to include several scenarios. A looping Wi-Fi video test doesnโt tell you how a phone behaves during a day of 5G, photography, maps and automatic brightness.
Pixel 11 charging speeds compared to Pixel 10

The Pixel 11 Pro XL receives the only clear wired-charging increase.
Google still trails manufacturers offering 65W, 80W, 100W or faster charging, but its approach is more conservative. Slower charging can produce less heat, which may help battery health over several years.
That said, charging an $899 phone at roughly the same speed as its predecessor isnโt exactly thrilling.
Wireless charging
This is where the better improvement has happened.

The standard Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro move from 15W to 25W wireless charging.
That is a 67% increase in maximum quoted wattage.
Pixelsnap uses magnetic alignment, which helps place the charging coils correctly. Poor alignment wastes energy as heat and slows charging, so the magnets are useful beyond simply holding accessories to the back of the phone.
The standard Pixel 11 is specifically listed as Qi2.2-certified, while the other models use Pixelsnap Qi2 charging.
Which Pixel 11 should have the best battery life?
My early ranking would be:
- Pixel 11 Pro XL: Best for heavy use
- Pixel 11: Best balance of battery size and screen size
- Pixel 11 Pro: Good mixed-use efficiency from its LTPO display
- Pixel 11 Pro Fold: Most likely to require an evening top-up
The Pro XL has the largest battery and an efficient LTPO screen. It should be the safest option for video, photography, gaming and navigation.
The standard Pixel 11 could perform surprisingly well because it combines a near-5,000mAh battery with a smaller, lower-resolution display. Its 60Hz minimum refresh rate may hurt it during static content, however.
The Pixel 11 Pro has a smaller battery but can drop its display to 1Hz. Its real position may depend on how you use it.
The Fold is the obvious concern. It has the smallest battery relative to the amount of display it must power, and Google has retained the 24-hour claim.
Should you expect a major battery uplift?
Probably not a dramatic one.
The standard Pixel 11, Pro and Pro XL should last longer than their predecessors during normal mixed use. Google wouldnโt have moved from a 24-hour to a 30-hour claim without seeing an improvement in its own tests.
But I would not interpret that as six extra hours of screen-on time.
A more realistic outcome might be:
- An extra hour or two during a normal day
- Less standby drain overnight
- Better endurance on mobile data
- Lower power use from local AI features
- Less heat during light and medium workloads
- Similar endurance during demanding games
- Similar or slightly better camera and navigation endurance
The biggest improvement may not be extending an already good day into two full days. It may simply be reaching bedtime with 25% remaining rather than 10%.
That isnโt as exciting as a huge new battery, but it makes the phone easier to live with.
Is the Pixel 11 Pro Fold battery a downgrade?
In capacity terms, yes.
The battery has fallen from 5,015mAh to 4,750mAh. That is the largest reduction anywhere in the Pixel 11 family.
Google appears to be using Tensor G6 efficiency to offset the loss, and its official 24-hour claim remains unchanged.
But capacity still matters. An efficient processor can reduce consumption, but it cannot completely ignore the power needed by an 8-inch OLED display.
Anyone buying the Fold for heavy tablet-style use should wait for full battery testing. If battery life matters more than having a folding display, the Pixel 11 Pro XL is the safer purchase.
Does the Pixel 11 come with a charger?
No.
You get a USB-C cable, but the wall charger is sold separately.
To reach Googleโs quoted charging figures, youโll need:
- A 30W or higher USB-C PPS charger for Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro
- A 45W or higher USB-C PPS charger for Pixel 11 Pro XL
- A suitable USB-C PPS charger for Pixel 11 Pro Fold
- A Qi2-compatible Pixelsnap charger for maximum wireless speeds
An older USB-C charger may still charge the phone, but it may not provide the fastest supported rate.
Final verdict: better efficiency, not bigger batteries
The Pixel 11 series isnโt using battery capacity as its main selling point.
The standard model has gained just 15mAh. The Pro and Pro XL batteries are slightly smaller, while the Fold has lost a more noticeable 265mAh.
Google is relying on Tensor G6, Android 17, improved local AI processing and faster wireless charging to produce a better overall experience.
The early figures look most promising for the standard Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro XL. Both combine sensible battery capacities with new efficiency improvements, while the XL also gets faster wired charging.
The Pixel 11 Pro should still perform well thanks to its LTPO display.
The Fold is the wildcard. Tensor G6 may compensate for the smaller cell during ordinary use, but heavy use of its internal display could expose that 5.3% capacity reduction rather quickly.
For now, Iโd expect a useful battery improvement across the three regular Pixel 11 phones, but not a revolution. Googleโs 30-hour claim is encouraging. Proper side-by-side testing will tell us whether it translates into noticeably longer days or merely nicer numbers on a specification sheet.
