Nexus Prime – coming October?

Reports from Korea suggest Google’s Android Ice Cream Sandwich powered Nexus Prime handset is coming to the UK in October.
Everybody has been patiently waiting for Android 4.0 (Android Ice Cream Sandwich), with Google remaining fairly tight-lipped about an exact release date. It’s coming, along with the Nexus Prime, before the end of the year – but when?
Well, according to the Electronic Times, Google’s third-generation Nexus Prime handset, which will also be the first Android Ice Cream Sandwich device to market, will be landing in October.
We first caught wind of the Nexus Prime back in June. According to our report back then, ‘the device will feature a Super AMOLED HD (720p) display and an OMAP4460 processor.’
These specs, first published by BGR, are also collaborated by Electronic Times’ report, which states that the Nexus Prime will feature a 4.5-inch display with a PenTile layout 720p Super AMOLED HD display, 1.5GHz OMAP4460 chipset and, of course, Android Ice Cream Sandwich.
Samsung is currently the front-runner for OEM duties, which we’re more than happy with, and the Nexus Prime’s release date looks set to clash with the release of Apple’s iPhone 5 – and potentially another big release from Samsung.
Google has gradually been securing more and more popularity with its own-brand Pure Android devices. The Nexus S, although not massively popular, was easily one of our personal favourite handsets of 2011.
If Google can build on the momentum it generated with the Nexus S – and this certainly seems to be the case – we predict big things for the Nexus Prime. Couple this with some support from networks, both here and in the US, and Google could have quite a big handset on its hands.
