Following the delayed European rollout of the Android Oreo update for the HTC U11, HTC has now pushed the update for the entire EMEA region, including Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The 1.31GB update is rolling over-the-air to unlocked handsets as we speak, carrying software build version 2.33.401.10.
As well as all the Android Oreo goodness from Google, the update includes a new version of the HTC Edge Launcher UX and HTC Helper, as well as various other “system enhancements”. Notifications and icons are reportedly recieving a tweak to make them more detailed and user friendly.
As per usual, the rollout will likely occur in phases, so if you’re in an EMEA region and haven’t seen it yet on your unlocked device, don’t worry, keep checking every now and then and eventually a notification should pop up prompting you to update. It’s recommend you download the update over Wi-Fi.
Also as usual, this is going to hit unlocked devices first – carrier networks are going to have their say in approving the software and possibly adding their own tweaks before pushing to customers on carrier-locked HTC U11 handsets.
