Leaked screenshots confirm Sony Xperia ZU Snapdragon 800 processor and 1080p display

Screenshots allegedly taken on Sony’s forthcoming Xperia ZU stylus-equipped phablet have emerged and show the spec line-up matches previously leaked details.

The system info screenshots show the Xperia ZU will pack an 1920x1080 pixel Full HD resolution and a screen size in the region of 6.4-inches at around 342 pixels-per-inch (ppi). Internal storage appears to be 16GB and the processor is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chip with 2GB of RAM, an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit (GPU) and a clockspeed of 2.2GHz. The phone also features a microSD slot and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Sony has two events coming up, one on June 25 in Berlin, Germany and another on July 4 in Paris, France. One of these events is thought to be the Xperia ZU launch while another device also leaked and rumoured alongside in recent months is the Xperia Honami, a 5-inch premium handset with a high-end camera setup.

The invitation for the July 4 event specifically features a stylus, suggesting we’ll be waiting until next month to see the Xperia ZU. Could that mean the Xperia Honami makes it out the door first on June 25?

We’ll be keeping our eye out for more info on these two handsets as both are set to boast some seriously high-grade hardware. It looks as though Sony is making a serious bid for the top of the smartphone space this time round and that’ll certainly make for an interesting set of phones arriving from the manufacturer in 2013.
