Apple’s AirPods Pro vs Samsung’s Galaxy Buds – There’s Only One Winner!

Samsung is renowned in the Android world for its flagship Galaxy phones. But, like most major phone makers, Samsung isn’t content to only be a smartphone maker anymore. The company has jumped into the wireless earbud market, which Apple currently leads in with its hot AirPods line.

Samsung’s wireless earbuds are called Galaxy Buds. Of course, the buds follow in the footsteps of Apple’s own wireless earbuds, the AirPods. But since the Galaxy Buds have come out, Apple has introduced the all-new AirPods Pro. So, which is better? Let’s take a look.

Design

  • AirPods Pro – The AirPods Pro improves on the AirPods’ iconic design by having both a shorter stem and they also include three rubber tips to give users a better fit.
  • Galaxy Buds – The Galaxy Buds look like a traditional hearing aid—short and squat. Everything is scrunched together. But while the AirPods only come in white, the Galaxy Buds comes in white, yellow, or black.

Winner? AirPods Pro – Their design still outshines the Galaxy Buds–and most other wireless earbuds. They’re tiny works of art.

Audio & Connectivity

  • AirPods Pro – The AirPods Pro includes dual beam-forming microphones, dual optical sensors, a motion-detecting accelerometer and a speech-detecting accelerometer. They also connect over both Bluetooth and Apple’s H1 chip, which makes connecting them to an iPhone effortless. And their biggest feature is that they support active noise cancellation (ANC).
  • Galaxy Buds – The Galaxy Buds feature adaptive dual microphone technology and an accelerometer, as well as connecting over Bluetooth too. But when it comes to audio quality there’s just no comparison to the AirPods Pro because they lack any kind of ANC technology.

Winner? AirPods Pro – The AirPods Pro has active noise cancellation and the Galaxy Buds do not. Because of that, it’s not even a contest.

Battery & Charging

  • AirPods Pro – The AirPods Pro gets you 4.5 hours of use when active noise cancellation is engaged. When active noise cancellation is turned off, you’ll get 5 hours of use. The AirPods Pro also comes with a wireless charging case as standard, which gets you over 24 hours of use.
  • Galaxy Buds – The Galaxy Buds get you 5 hours of use and their case gets you 20 hours in total. The Galaxy Buds’ case also sports wireless charging.

Winner? AirPods Pro – You’ll get more battery life–and thus, longer tunes–with the AirPods Pro.

Voice Assistant

  • AirPods Pro – The AirPods Pro supports hands-free “Hey Siri” commands as well as giving you full access to all of Siri’s capabilities.
  • Galaxy Buds – The Galaxy Buds support hands-free Bixby commands.

Winner? AirPods Pro – Siri usually isn’t the better assistant when you compare it to the likes of Google and Alexa, but Siri vs Bixby? No content: Siri wins.

Verdict?

Honestly, it’s not even a contest. The AirPods Pro is the way to go if you want the best sound quality. They also have a better design and, while both products are water-resistant, AirPods Pro has a higher IPX4 rating.

That being said, the AirPods Pro is almost twice as expensive as the Galaxy Buds, which makes the Galaxy Buds a good option if you want to save some cash. And of course the Buds come in more color options–also something people may find attractive.
