We've already reviewed the Nokia N79, but what do other technology sites think about the well-equipped device?

Mobile Choice "As with all Nseries phones, it’s almost impossible to run through all the features in a two-page review, so it goes with out saying that this is another very well equipped phone from the Ngage stable. However, the keypad really is quite poorly designed…More frustratingly, the joypad, or Navi wheel, is an absolute pig. It’s stiff, creaky and unresponsive, and, because of the raised menu select key, it’s very hard to get your thumb on it to scroll up or down, left or right through the menu. It all makes for rather a very unpleasant user experience. " Read the Mobile Choice Nokia N79 review

Pocket-lint.co.uk “As you’d find on a high-end device, there’s GPS (with Nokia Maps preinstalled), the N-Gage gaming interface, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, TV out and an FM transmitter for streaming music to your Hi-Fi. However, it’s the build quality that is jeopardised here. The casing is plastic, and it really does make the handset feel cheap. Although the Nokia N79 is a respectable offering, filled to the brim with the latest tech, it’s disappointing that Nokia has jeopardised the design and build quality.” Read the Pocket-Lint Nokia N79 review

Mobile Phones UK “A very powerful smartphone with a 5 megapixel camera, assisted GPS, WiFi, 3G HSDPA and a 4GB memory card. The N79 gives you most of the features of the flagship N96 in a classic shape and at much lower cost. We highly recommend it! Ooh yes. This is an Nseries phone that we like. For roughly half the cost of a Nokia N96, you get nearly all of the features, but none of the problems.” Read the Mobile Phones UK N79 review
Your Mobile Phone Reviews “The Nokia N79 is a solid bar shaped 3G Smartphone which is ideal for business & personal use. The casing is solid with no opening system & comes with smooth edges. The N79 is available in two main coloured casings complete with three changeable colour options which the user can change to suit their style.” Read the Your Mobile Phone Reviews Nokia N79 review

iGizmo.co.uk “As Nokia’s self-proclaimed smallest, slimmest N-series handset, the N79 gets away with being quite svelte and lightweight at just 97g – without feeling too cheap or plastic…The UI is both visually appealing and easy to use thanks to the familiarity of the Symbian OS. The N79’s built-in accelerometer is pretty responsive and makes using things like the camera much, much easier. [However], while the N79 is nice to look at and to use, the same could be said of many phones out there on the market already. ” Read the iGizmo Nokia N79 review

Stuff.tv “Judging by its feature set, normal NSeries service has been resumed. In short, the N79 is a candybar version of the N85. Sadly, it doesn’t share its sister slider’s vivid OLED display and dedicated N-Gage controls, but its new look blond opaque design is very swish. Nokia is slowly replacing its clunky Nseries old guard with more refined, younger looking models. Along with the N85, the N79 is part of this new breed and shows Nokia’s Nseries to be in rude health going into 2009. ” Read the Stuff.tv Nokia N79 review
GSM Arena “Nseries keep on throwing heavy-spec'd phones at us and there's no question they're hitting their best form in quite a while. About time we got less of a curve ball lookswise, Nokia N79 embodies a new approach to Nseries styling. As to the insides, the N79 sides with N85 to make quite a number of Nseries veterans fear retirement. A true all-in-one, and less N-gage, Nokia N79 is big enough on personality and inspiration."
