How to hard reset the HTC Wildfire

We show you how to hard or factory the HTC Wildfire if something goes wrong

If you find yourself in difficulty with the HTC Wildfire, such as it keeps craching, you can perform a hard reset to revert your device back to factory settings.

Please note that all data will be deleted from the HTC Wildfire as a result of this procedure. This process does NOT delete data stored on the microSD card. We recommend backing up all of your personal data before proceeding.

  1. Turn the power off. If your HTC Wildfire is frozen, pull the battery out and reinsert it
  2. Hold the Volume Down button
  3. Press and release the Power button
  4. You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock
  5. Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button
  6. Press and release the Power button
  7. Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO

If you selected YES, all data including third-party applications will be deleted from the HTC Wildfire.

Once the wipe is complete, the phone will reboot to its factory fresh state.

Hello, i have this problem, about two days ago my HTC Wildfire's screen would not work right - after pressing the sleep/wake up button the four sensoric buttons would light up, but the lock screen would not appear, the screen remained black. I noticed that even if the screen doesn't show any signs of life you could still unlock the phone by making the same finger moves you would normally do to operate it. Today, after a half an hour of pushing the sleep/wake up button for my HTC to show me the lock screen i was greeted by success and after backing up my data i tried to do a HARD (FACTORY) reset by turning my HTC off and following the steps provided above. When holding the Volume Down button and pressing and releasing the Power button nothing happened though. Then i held the Volume up button and pressed and released the Power button, my HTC turned on and vibrated three times, but no matter how long i held the Volume up button the screen wouldn't show anything, just the light indicator turned green and kept that way for as long as i didn't take out the battery. At this moment i don't know what to make of this situation, is it a screen hardware issue or somekind of weird software problem? Oh and after the unsuccessful attempt to Factory reset the HTC i pulled the battery out and pressed the Power button, after a while it played the HTC sound when turning on and the four sensor buttons below the screen lighted up. So i'm back to where i started :(

tried and the solution is good
