The Cheapest Pixel Phone That’s Still Awesome…
If you want a good Android phone for less than $300, a refurbished Pixel 8a is the one to look at. The price of this phone is kind of mind-blowing in 2026, when you consider what you’re actually getting.

- The camera module is brilliant, easily on par with a base model iPhone.
- The screen is a 120Hz panel (usually reserved for flagship models).
- Performance is great and the battery life is outstanding.
The price makes it especially appealing. Our vetted refurbished Pixel 8a listings currently include 128GB models from $227. That gets you a recent Pixel experience for a fraction of what a new flagship costs.
Pixel 8a prices start at $227

I used a Pixel 8a for several months earlier this year. It’s a great daily driver, the size is great because it’s large but not MASSIVE. My favorite part, though, was the camera. It’s one of the best point-and-shoot setups I’ve come across. Photos look great with no effort.
I also think it looks fantastic in blue too!
- The lowest listed price is $227 for the 128GB blue Pixel 8a.
- Beige listings also start at $227, while black starts at $237 and green at $271.
- Prices and availability can change, so check the Pixel 8a deals in our refurbished database for the current options.
At that price, you’re getting an unlocked phone with 128GB of storage. Most could probably buy the phone outright, meaning no more long-term contracts with carriers.
If you’re looking to massively cut down your phone bill, this could be the fastest way to do it. Ditch the big carrier deals, get this phone, switch to an MVNO like VISIBLE and watch your monthly costs go from $100+ to less than $30.
You don’t have to pay $1,000+ for a new phone. Buying refurbished saves you, on average, 40% to 50%.
Which means you skip the inflationary price hikes, side-step the 2026 memory cost crisis, and still get the flagship performance and specs you want.
Recommended Options For 2026The camera is the Pixel 8a’s best feature
Google’s Pixel phones have long been strong camera phones, and the Pixel 8a brings much of that camera experience to a cheaper device. Its 64MP main camera and 13MP ultrawide camera cover the everyday shots most people take, from family photos and holidays to quick pictures for social media.
The Pixel camera software does a lot of the work for you. Photos are generally easy to take and share without having to fiddle with settings or edit every image afterwards. It also includes Google’s photo tools, such as Best Take and Magic Editor, which can help you adjust or improve certain shots.
A newer phone may have a different sensor or newer processing but that doesn’t mean it will take noticeably better photos in every situation. For everyday photos, the Pixel 8a still gives you a lot for the money.
Seven years of updates from launch
Software support is one of the biggest reasons the Pixel 8a makes sense in 2026. Google says the Pixel 8a gets seven years of OS and security updates, counted from when the phone first became available on the Google Store in the US.
That means support runs into 2031, giving you a long runway for a phone that currently costs $227.
A cheap Android phone can become a false economy if it stops getting security updates soon after you buy it which is why we don’t tend to recommend phones from Sony, Xiaomi, Motorola, and other brands that don’t take Android updates seriously.
The Pixel 8a has a much longer support window than every other budget phone on the market, so you can keep using it without feeling pushed into another upgrade next year.
You’re paying too much for data. Way too much.
Visible+ gives you unlimited premium data on Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband network, plus hotspot data and travel perks.

A smooth screen and enough speed for daily use
The Pixel 8a has a 6.1-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. That makes scrolling feel smoother than on a standard 60Hz screen, while OLED gives video, photos and apps good contrast and colour.
Its Google Tensor G3 processor is not the newest chip in 2026, but that’s not a problem for ordinary use. Browsing, messaging, streaming, email, maps and social apps do not require a top-end processor. The Pixel 8a has enough power for those jobs, along with Google’s AI and photo features.
It also supports wireless charging and has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. Those are useful features to get in a phone at this price.
Why it’s such good value in 2026
The Pixel 8a is a good buy because the important parts still hold up.
- You get a strong camera,
- a smooth OLED display,
- solid everyday performance
- and a long update policy, without paying for the latest flagship hardware.
The fact that you’ll pay less than $250 for ALL of that makes the Pixel 8a one of the best value buys on the market right now.
Add in the side bonus of no more expensive carrier bills (if you switch to an MVNO) and you’re looking at HUGE savings across the next 12 months.
If you want an affordable Android phone with years of support left, the refurbished Pixel 8a is the best Pixel under $300 in our database right now.
