Android 3.0 is coming

Android 3.0 is on the way and while a lot is still unknown about the forthcoming OS, some new leaked information has thrown light on some of the new operating system’s core features.
The leaked information, along with one of the blurriest screen shots we’ve ever seen, comes via Phandroid.
According to Phandroid, the new Google OS will feature built-in video calling as well as some serious tweaking and improvements to the UI.
In addition to this, there is also reports that Android’s notification bar has been reworked, icons will appear more uniform in appearance and, most importantly, there’s been improvements made to Android’s scroll effects – so it’ll be smoother, like it is on the iPhone.
The colour green is also said to feature predominantly in the new version of Android 3.0 as well – although, we’re not too sure how we feel about this!
And finally, VoIP is said to have been added to the Google Voice app but this, according to Phandroid, may not work straight out of the box and may require an early update. Nevertheless, VoIP will be an Android 3.0 exclusive – bad news for Froyo users, then.
In terms of a release date, Phandroid has claimed that the new OS will be announced before the end of the year but might not actually land until early 2011.
