HTC will launch its Android 2.1 OS update on the HTC Hero in nine days.
With HTC launching new handsets like the Legend and the Desire, both of which run Android 2.1, Hero owners will be pleased to hear that the previously delayed update now seems to have a firm release date of April 16.
We've already brought you tentative rumours of an upgrade schedule that would see some UK operators begin the roll-out on April 16 whilst others would commence on the April 22, but we're grateful to get some sort of official word from a member of the HTC Team .
The confirmation was posted on the HTC-Club website in response to an email enquiry and corroborates the info that we previously reported. The initial batch of Nordic/Greek/RUS/UKR/SA ROMS were due to start receiving the upgrade on April 2 but should now also receive them on April 16 too.
As long as there are no more delays, it shouldn't be more than a couple of weeks before you can bring your HTC Hero up to date and mix-it with the new HTC handsets on the block.
