Widgets will play an integral part in Windows Mobile 6.5

Widgets will play an integral part of the Windows Mobile 6.5 experience according to the official Windows Mobile blog.
The next iteration of the popular Microsoft platform is expected to arrive later in the year and bring with it enhanced appearance, usability and end-user features, one of which is the new Windows Mobile Widget.
The blogger suggests thinking of the Windows Mobile Widget as a “portable chunk of the web, or basically a rich internet application”.
Developers will be able to produce widgets more easily than earlier versions by using web favourites like HTML, CSS and Javascript. Windows Mobile 6.5 will include native support of transparent PNGs and is implementing the latest W3C standards for mobile widget applications.
Each individual widget will act as independent application and will support media player integration as they have full access to the other web favourites Flash and ActiveX.
We expect to know more after next month's online Microsoft TechDays sessions.
