The Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo has been announced with a May UK release date

Samsung's latest low-end Galaxy device has been announced as the Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo.

The Matrix character's almost namesake is a diddy device, measuring 105x57.8x11.8mm.

The device has pretty small-fry specs too, with an 850MHz application processor, 3-inch QVGA display and 2-megapixel camera.

Samsung is aiming its latest Samsung Galaxy device at 'the younger generation of mobile users', making it a perfect first smartphone.

With 4GB internal storage, plus support for an extra 32GB in microSD cards, it's a good option for storing tunes and video.

The device looks a little bland, with a pebble-shaped back, squat front panel with Samsung's trademark menu button on the front.

The Galaxy Pocket Neo does, however feature some of the interactive features seen on the Samsung Galaxy S4, including Motion UI, that allows you to mute the phone riniging just by shaking it.

Running on Android Jelly Bean 4.1, we can't see the Galaxy Pocket Neo being updated to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean any time soon, but it does include Samsung's TouchWiz UI for a better user experience.

According to Samsung's press release, the device also features  a 1,200mAh battery which will probably keep the small device chugging along for a little while, helped along by a small screen.

Best of all, Samsung's ChatON instant messaging service comes preinstalled, so you can keep in contact with your friends for free!

The Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo will be available from May, but there's no word on pricing just yet.
