The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will go into mass production in August, putting it on track for a September release at IFA 2013

Samsung has told Asian parts suppliers that production of the Galaxy Note 3 will begin in August, reports claim.

According to Korea’s ETNews and its unnamed industry sources, Samsung’s suppliers have been somewhat disgruntled after the company reduced its parts orders for the Galaxy S4 flagship in July – it’s now only ordering components for around 6.5 million handsets.

Allegedly, to extend an olive branch Samsung has told suppliers that it will be ordering more parts to begin mass production of the Galaxy Note 3 in August, this is according to an ‘insider at Wireless Business Division at Samsung Electronics,’ claims the report.

The source also suggested Samsung’s new models, including the Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S4 Zoom and Galaxy S4 Active, will also mean suppliers are not significantly impacted by the drop in Galaxy S4 flagship production.

He said Samsung ‘had reduced the order to each suppliers at the similar rates. Since we will start placing orders for follow-up models, such as Galaxy Note III, from August, the impact to suppliers will be minimal.’

While we can’t verify the authenticity of the leak it does seem like a plausible claim. It’s been thought for some time Samsung would launch the Galaxy Note 3 at IFA 2013 in Berlin, Germany – the annual event takes place in September and was where the company launched the Galaxy Note 2 in 2012.

Samsung executives have since confirmed that this is the company’s plan and mass production in August would certainly put things on track for a September reveal.

According to Phonearena there have been some rumours floating around the web suggesting Samsung may have brought its launch plans forward owing to slowing Galaxy S4 sales and the emergence of Sony’s plans to launch a rival stylus-toting phablet, possibly this month, as the Sony Xperia ZU.

Assuming the news of Samsung’s production starting in August is true we can’t see this happening as the company wouldn’t be able to get a decent volume of handsets out the door early enough.

Sony has two events lined up, one on June 25 in Germany and one on July 4 in France, the Xperia ZU is expected to appear at one (or perhaps both) of these.

We’ll be on-hand to bring you all the details and will also be sure to keep an eye out for any more info on the Galaxy Note 3. It’s shaping up to be quite a year for you stylus-equipped phablet fans.
