Since 2010, I’ve been paying Three for Unlimited Data. That’s 20 to 25 quid a month for 14 years. Or, £4200 in total if I really want to depress myself.
To make matters worse, for the last several years, I’ve barely used 10GB of mobile data month. Remote work means I literally live on my WiFi network, whereas when I first got the plan I was commuting and in an office all day.
I’d been with Three since the iPhone 3GS. That’s how far back we go. I never really had any complaints but like most people, I kind of like getting stuff for less money.
And with the rise of MVNOs, this is now easier than ever. You get the same coverage, the same speeds. But you pay less. And iD Mobile runs on Three’s network. What’s not to like?
So I did what I should’ve done years ago: I switched to iD Mobile.
Is iD Mobile Good?

Simple. It runs on Three’s network. Same 4G, same 5G, same coverage in my area. No speed throttling. No compromise. But the price? It’s a lot cheaper. Over the course of a few years, you’re looking at hundreds in savings.
I went from £25 a month with Three to £8 with iD Mobile for 60GB of data, a plan I don’t even come close to maxing out.
That’s a £204 annual saving for literally the same experience.

Also, while eSIM is now supported on iD Mobile, Wi-Fi calling isn’t available on every handset just yet. Check before you commit if that’s a must-have for you.
Would I Go Back?
No chance. Unless Three start offering 60GB of data for £8 a month, with bill caps and data rollover, I’m sticking with iD.
