EA Mobile's Need for Speed Shift is looking great, with detailed cars and environments plus a great roster of vehicles

A has released screenshots of the iPhone version of its upcoming racer Need for Speed Shift.
If it is to follow in the footsteps of its console big brother, Need for Speed Shift will be a more realistic affair than its predecessors. Presumably the series is trying to capitalise on the popularity of such racers as Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo following ever-increasing competition in the arcade racer sector from games like Burnout.
Either way, this iPhone version of the game is looking highly impressive. Environments look varied and realistic, while the textures are detailed eve when being viewed from a distance. For more screenshots of the game, check out EA Mobile’s facebook page. Of course, we can’t be entirely sure if these are straight screenshots from a work-in-progress version of the game rather than mock-ups, but that’s certainly what they’re looking like.
The cars in the game will be officially licensed, unlike what we’ve seen in previous top iPhone racers like Real Racing and Gameloft’s Asphalt. Here’s the list of cars that’ll be included:
- BMW M3 GT2
- Volkswagen Golf GTI
- Mazda RX-8
- Mitsubishi Lancer EVOLUTION
- Subaru Impreza WRX STI
- Porsche Cayman S
- Nissan 370Z (Z34)
- Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34)
- Dodge Challenger Concept
- Ford Shelby GT500
- Audi R8 4.2 FSI quattro
- Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG
- Chevrolet Corvette Z06
- Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4
