Instagram will soon be available on Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform.
Nokia confirmed the news earlier today at its big GDR3-inspired Lumia reveal, where the Finnish phone monger launched to new phablet handsets –– the Lumia 1520 and Lumia 1320 –– and a Windows RT-powered tablet called the Nokia Lumia 2520.
“Our ultimate goal is to bring Instagram to everyone who wants to use it,” Instagram co-founder and CEO Kevin Systrom said in a statement. “We’re looking forward to watching the Windows Phone community use Instagram to capture and share beautiful moments in the coming weeks.”
Really, Mr. Systrom? Is that why it’s taken almost three years to get the application onto Microsoft’s mobile platform? For shame! But at least it is still here, and the arrival is pretty significant – Instagram is a massive application, so that’s a huge boon for dedicated Windows Phone users.
But alas we’ve yet to get an “official release date,” with both parties –– Nokia and Instagram –– simply saying the application will be available inside the “coming weeks”.
We’ll update this piece once we know anything more concrete about launch dates. Until then why not check out Nokia’s new Lumia handsets and tablets. They’re bloody massive!
