Nokia calls Windows Phone 7 “unproven” and “risky” but that hasn’t stopped Microsoft’s mobile operating system from having its best month yet with 887,000 Windows Phone 7 handsets shipping in February.
So far, according to The Next Web, 3.38 million Windows Phone 7 handsets has been sold since the platform launched last year.
And when you consider the level of competition Microsoft was up against when it launched Windows Phone 7 it hasn’t that badly.
Microsoft also celebrated its 10,000th application going live in its Windows Phone 7 Marketplace this week as well.
2011 is also set to be a big year for Windows Phone 7 as well with more handset releases, a big update in the form of Mango, which will bring multitasking to the platform, and a partnership with Nokia.
All in all, things are shaping up well for Microsoft’s latest mobile platform. It’ll certainly be interesting to see where the operating system is in a year from now.
