The Yellow Pages has updated its Yell Labs application, with augmented reality functionality so users can actually see what they’re searching for.
Users that download the application will be able to “see” local shops, offices and amenities using the camera viewer – regardless of distance.
When searching within the app, users can touch tagged boxes that display information about specific places of interest – addresses, phone numbers, opening hours etc.
In addition to this, the Yell app also utilises the iPhone’s multitouch capabilities. For example, users can limit the amount of information within their search by moving their finger to the left of the screen. There is also the option to see the most popular searches, which is done by swiping a finger to the right.
