It is arguably one of the most popular smartphone games of all time—a huge feat since the game only came out less than three weeks ago. The Pokemon Go craze has swept the world, with tens of millions of players taking up the augmented reality journey around places near and far. In the game you hunt Pokemon, digital writers you view through your smartphone screen layered on top of real world backgrounds. Catch the Pokemon to add them to your collection and then feed and train them so they evolve into more powerful beasts that you can then pit against other players’ Pokemon to win virtual cash to—you guessed it—spend on virtual items that help you attract more Pokemon.

While there is only one official Pokemon Go game from Nintendo, third-party developers are getting into the action building tools to help the game’s fans along their Pokemon collecting journey. In this article we’ve put together a list of the best tools to take your Pokemon Go gaming to the next level.

On December 8, the Pokémon Go team has taken to Google+ to post about a new deal with Starbucks in the US which will see as many as 7,800 Starbucks outlets in the country becoming PokéStops and Gyms, meaning you can train your Pokémon while grabbing a flat white, and are likely never very far from a Pokémon training facility.

“We are happy to announce that Starbucks is now an official partner of Pokémon GO,” read the post.

“Starbucks has a long-standing commitment to providing spaces for social interaction and real-world community building in its extensive network of locations. We appreciate their role in creating safe, welcoming locations for people from all walks of life to come together for refreshment and social engagement.”

“Starting 11 A.M. PST on December 8th, this new partnership will transform 7,800 company-operated Starbucks stores in the United States into PokéStops and Gyms, giving Trainers even more places to play and to engage with their local Pokémon GO communities.”

“Whether you’re on your daily morning commute or just out exploring your neighborhood with your loved ones, make sure you collect items from the new Starbucks PokéStops or battle in the new Gyms with your favorite Pokémon!”

At the moment this is just taking place in the US, but given that Starbucks is now a global franchise, and how popular Pokémon GO has become (draw in those customers, yo),  it wouldn’t surprise us in the slightest if the partnership is expanded to include Starbucks outlets in other world regions in the near future.

Tip: How To Get FREE Pokecoins (Android Only)

Like pretty much any major app on the market these days, Pokemon Go features optional micro-transactions; inside the app you can purchase Pokecoins, an in-game currency used to buy additional Poke Balls, Pokemon Lures, Egg Incubators, Incense and other useful items. As usual, Pokecoins are offered in batches, ranging from 100 Pokecoins for around $0.99 up to frankly crazy amounts of money for vast treasure troves of Pokecoins.

However, there is a clever way you can “buy” Pokecoins at no real-world monetary cost to yourself. Google has an app in place for its Google Play store which allows users a way of earning Google Play credit, which can be spent on new apps, games and content, BUT, crucially, it can also be spent on in-app purchases, aka micro-transactions!

The Google Opinion Rewards application can be downloaded via Google Play to your Android phone; it’s one of those online survey systems – answer a set of questions for a survey, which only takes a few minutes, and you’ll earn up to $1 of Google Play credit, and as we just mentioned, that’s about 100 Pokecoins! You can therefore answer as many surveys as you like and build up a nice little cache of Google Play credit, which you can then spend on Pokecoins, which you can then spend on in-game items. Simple, no?

Of course, we suppose it is possible to regard this as “spending” in the sense that time is money, or even that unlike money, you can’t get time back! But we also suppose that if you’re spending your down-time chasing magical beasties then it’s best not to dwell on this stuff too much!

PokémonGoAnywhere

This add-on is built only for people who have jailbroken iPhones. It will not work on non-jailbroken devices. So, just what does it do? PokémonGoAnywhere allows you to hunt for Pokemon anywhere in the world. It does this by hacking the official Pokemon Go app to enable you to virtually walk on the map just by tapping it. Yes, there’s no more real-world walking required to hunt Pokemon you lazy dogs!

RazerGo

RazerGo addresses one of the biggest drawbacks in Pokemon Go. While Pokemon Go is undoubtedly a social game, it lacks any kind of communication tools to talk to other players. Enter RazerGo the web app (it also will soon have iOS and Android apps) allows you to find and talk to other players in a radius of 3, 60, or 600 miles. Why might you want to do this? Mainly to see who else shoes your addiction…but also to chat with other players to find out where Pokemon hotspots are.

Giffgaff’s find.catch.share

Nowadays every other article on the internet is about Pokemon Go. If you can be associated with the game in any way you’ll likely get media coverage. Perhaps that’s why the UK’s virtual mobile network operator Giffgaff has launched its find.catch.share tool. The web-based mapping tool the best places to find the rarest Pokemon. It also offers markings that show local smartphone charging stations so your fun doesn’t run out of juice hunting Pokemon. Giffgaff’s partner on the project, what3words’ CMO Giles Rhys Jones, said: “There are thousands of stories of people getting lost, running out of battery or even getting sore legs from walking too far in pursuit of Pokémon. We are delighted to partner with giffgaff to enable their community to easily and quickly find and share these vital locations with just 3 words.”

IsPokemonGoDownOrNot

This website tracks Pokemon Go’s servers all around the world and shows you how busy to capacity they are and if they are likely to go down soon or not. It also tracks downtime, meaning you can see the times the games servers are most likely to be reliable to make sure you are playing at times when your game won’t be interrupted.

SilphRoad Pokemon Stats

SilphRoad Pokemon Stats is a great website with data about Pokemon Go. The site charts Pokemon species stats, XP awards, and trainer levels. A really great feature is that for the Pokemon species stats you can sort the list by species number, best attack, best defense, best stamina, or best combined stats.

Pokévision map

This is probably one of the best Pokemon mapping tools available. As the makers of the tool explain on the website: “Pokevision is a Pokemon tracker/locator for the mobile game Pokemon Go. It uses the Niantic API to grab the location of all Pokemon near your (or your selected location) and display them on the map in real-time; this means if it is displayed on the map, you can go out and catch them! Note: Rarer pokemons have a shorter appearance time so they might despawn; make sure to be quick and keep an eye on their timers!”

Pokemon Radar Go map

While Pokevision map is a great resource, it uses Open Street Map graphics and data. For those of you who like your data from Google Maps, might we suggest the Pokemon Radar Go map? This crowdsourced map allows Pokemon Go players anywhere in the world to report where they’ve found Pokemon. It’s useful because even after a Pokemon is captured, it respawns in or near the same place for other players to capture.
