Symantec moves to strengthen its mobile security portfolio

Symantec, the software giant behind Norton Antvirus, has announced plans to strengthen its support of mobile devices running Android and iOS operating systems.

Enrique Salem, Symantec’s Chief Executive, discussed the company’s plan to bring functionality such as remote wipe, password policy enforcement and device inventory to their upcoming enterprise solutions.

The recent increase in viruses, malware and trojan’s aimed at the Android OS has brought an urgency to the discussion surrounding mobile security and Symantec are clearly hoping to extend their desktop popularity into the pocket with this latest announcement, whilst making good use of their new acquisition, VeriSign.
