Sony Ericsson has teamed up with Facebook and YouTube to create a digital campaign to shine a light on the WTA.
Sony Ericsson Xperia Hot Shots is an online TV show which aims to bring added entertainment to womens’ tennis.
Brand ambassador and tennis champion Maria Sharapova helped launch the show on Sunday in Miami, Florida ahead of the Sony Ericsson Open.
This will be a great chance for people to get a closer look at Women’s Tennis Association players, see them take part in unusual challenges and amazing stunts, all of which can be watched online or on your mobile.
Sony Ericsson will give the players exclusive access to the worlds of music, film, gaming and fashion in order for their online fan base to grow.
At the end of the year, the player that has generated the most support on Facebook will win a Sony Ericsson support deal.
The series which debuted yesterday on YouTube follows Bethanie Mattek-Sands (USA), Heather Watson (UK), Alize Cornet (France), Sabine Lisicki (Germany), Sorana Cirstea (Romania) and Dominika Cibulkova (Slovakia).
You’ll be able to watch exclusive behind-the-scenes access as the players head around the world on the WTA tour, have fun off court and meet stars from the world of entertainment in their pursuit for fame.
In September followers of the campaign will vote for their favourite contestant who will be awarded with €100,000.
Sony Ericsson has been an innovative partner of the WTA since 2005 and is hoping this will be an exciting new way for fans to interact with the players and also to bring a new audience to the sport.
This will surely be a big boost in the interest of women’s tennis and is also a great way to advertise the new Xperia handset.
So will be tuning in to the new online show?
