Steve Ballmar, CEO at Microsoft, confirmed that a number of Windows-powered tablets would be hitting the market before Christmas.
Speaking at the London School of Economics this morning (Tuesday October 5), Pocket-Lint has Bullmar quoted as saying:
“We as a company will need to cover all form factors. We have done work around the tablet as a productivity device and a consumption device… You’ll see slates with Windows on them, you’ll see them this Christmas, you’ll see them continue to change and evolve… Right now we have got to get back seriously into the game of phones”
Exciting stuff, indeed – but it gets better. According to Neowin, Microsoft isn’t just launching its new mobile OS on October 11. Apparently, it will also be announcing a series of tablets – something that’s now looking extremely likely given Bullmar’s openness on the subject.
Only one question remains, though: what OS will this new fleet of Windows Tablets use? Windows Phone 7 or, simply, Windows 7?
We guess all will become clear on October 11 – so watch this space.
