Apple will take to the stage and announce the iPad 2 tonight. But that’s not all. According to reports, the iPad 2’s release date will follow immediately, meaning it could be in stores as early as next week.
“Apple is cutting off supplies of all iPad models to resellers ahead of tomorrow’s media event, we’ve just heard from a Best Buy source that all iPad models have been transitioned to a “deleted” status at the source’s store,” claims MacRumors.
So, looks like a low-price first-gen iPad isn’t on the cards – at least from Best Buy anyway.
That said, Best Buy has been known to be wrong in the past, so this isn’t to be taken as gospel truth.
Nonetheless, a quick turn around from Apple with its iPad 2 would certainly be unexpected and, no doubt, get the sales rattling in nice and early.
It’d also give the Motorola Xoom some stiff competition.
Expect more concrete news later tonight when Apple officially unveils the iPad 2.
