iGrill becomes world’s first Bluetooth thermometer

As apps and accessories, it doesn’t get any more tasty than the recently released iGrill for iPad and iPhone.

Developed by iDevices, this $99.95 accessory and application basically turns your iPad and iPhone into a sous-chef. Thanks to a probe you can check the status of your food via a Bluetooth device.

Assuming you are keen on not giving your guests food poisoning but really not the most confident cook, this may just be the ticket for fantastic food. iGrill will tell you when food is ‘perfectly cooked, at the right temperature and safe for consumption’.

Perhaps unnecessarily, unless you own a gigantic kitchen or keep your BBQ away from the house, iGrill boasts a working range of over 200 feet. It also has ‘multi-tasking with multi-probe capacity’ and an ‘easy-clean touch interface and projection display’ to keep you happy.

iGrill represents a deal between its maker iDevices, the American catalogue distribution channel Frontgate and Omaha steaks, a distributor and manufacturer of beef, seagood and comestibles.

The iGrill application is free to download but the device itself, available in either black or white, costs the hefty $99.95 from the Apple Store. We’re not sure if you can buy it in the UK yet – when we hear back from the company we will update the story.

[Update: The iGrill is currently only available through the www.igrillinc.com website – it will be coming to Europe soon]
