Zynga has announced the release of FarmVille HD on iPad, Zynga’s first application for the tablet-based platform.
If you are not one of the Facebook sensation’s 60 million players, the idea is to run your own farm. From the planting and harvesting of crops that grow in real time, even when you aren’t playing, to the planting of trees and rearing livestock on your very customisable small holding, FarmVille has it covered.
Already available on iPhone, and having spent more than 50 days in the Top 25 games on iTunes, Zynga is keen to cash in on the fast growing, 16 million strong iPad tablet market. Considering iPhone players receive a staggering 500,000 gifts every day, we can understand why.
“We want to reach people wherever they want to play the games they love, and deliver the most fun and social experience on every platform,” said Steven Chiang, president of studios, Zynga.
“The iPad is a spectacular gaming device, and the new FarmVille app leverages its larger touch screen interface and enhanced graphics. FarmVille on the iPhone was an instant hit and now we are giving people another Apple device to play on.”
FarmVille HD on iPad is free (like the iPhone version), and is available now.
Expect Mafia Wars and/or other Zynga titles high up on the pecking order (sorry) to follow suit.
