The BBC has announced the iPlayer app for iPad will be available around the world for less than $10 a month.
BBC Director General Mark Thompson told a conference that demand for the app was high in countries outside the UK.
As yet, there’s no word on a release date, but ‘sometime this year’ had been promised.
The BBC iPlayer app will give subscribers access to the BBC archive of programmes.
In January, 162 million programmes were downloaded via BBC iPlayer and there was a massive growth in downloads for iPad, smartphones and game consoles.
Thompson also stressed broadcasters, mobile phone companies and the government need to get together to create a “road map” for mobile television.
