Samsung Galaxy A8+ Outed: Photos & Detailed Leaked

We already knew Samsung was rebooting the Galaxy A-series once again inside early 2018, the rumours have been coming fairly steadily on the subject of a new Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, and Galaxy A7 arriving inside Q1.

Now though, there’s a twist in the plot, with the emergence of an apparent Galaxy A8+. The Galaxy A-series has never had a model listed outside of the three A3, A5, and A7 dynamic. However, according to leaked information via Weibo, the Galaxy A8+ will in fact be the Galaxy A7, or rather, the Galaxy A7 (2018) will be the Galaxy A8+.

Previously we saw the SM-730 leaked in Samsung documents and that codename lines up with the A7 codenames from previous years, but apparently the new SM-730, which is definitely 2018’s top-end Galaxy A-series model, will instead be re-branded as the Galaxy A8+.

The leaked photos appear to give some indication as to why the name is being altered. We already heard the new Galaxy A-series would feature 18:9 aspect ratio Super AMOLED Infinity Display panels, similar to the flagship Galaxy S8 series and Galaxy Note 8, but the images of the Galaxy A8+ show just how similar this makes the phones look to the flagship brand.

Note that the 18:9 ratio is slightly different from the flagship 18.5:9 ratio of the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ and Galaxy Note 8.

Also, one of the images proves the Galaxy A8+ re-branding because we can see the name shown on the display…
