Back before the launch of the LG G4 there was word that LG was planning another device to come in above the LG G4 in the firm’s 2015 smartphone range; an even more premium model with higher-end specs. Now it seems, we’re getting word of a device from LG that might fit that description, known as the LG G Pro 3.
According to PhoneArena, Mobipicker, and Chinese Twitter source @Leaksfly the LG G Pro 3 will be a 6in phablet with a 2560 x 1440 pixel display resolution (490ppi), a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and 4GB of RAM. On top of this it’s believed to have 32GB of onboard storage with microSD expansion capabilities, an 8MP front-facing selfie camera and a 20.7MP rear-facing primary. Allegedly it will also pack both a fingerprint scanner and pupil recognition technology. Naturally the software is Android 5.1 Lollipop and there’s a speculated US price tag of $790, which would put it at around the £500 mark.
There’s no word on precisely when the LG G Pro 3 will arrive but it’s believed to be planned for a reveal inside 2015. Our money is on IFA 2015 in Berlin, Germany. LG has attended the expo previously and it’s also where Samsung will debut the Galaxy Note 5. A September release also puts the LG G Pro 3 in competition with Apple’s new iPhones.
We also have no clues on design and build. Being the LG G Pro 3 there have, of course, been two predecessor models, but this was a while ago for LG and the firm has changed its approach to mobile quite a bit since then. We suspect LG will continue along a similar vein to the LG G4 with a curved shape and minimal bezel around the display, but it’s anybody’s guess whether the LG G4’s leather finish will make an appearance. We’d like to think so, but until we hear more solid rumours it’s wild speculation.
