The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is now available to pre-order from the Vodafone online store.
The Xperia Play, which has been dubbed the Playstation Phone thanks to its ability to play Playstation One and Two games, will available free on contracts starting at £35 a month.
The £35 tariff gets you 900 minutes, unlimited texts and 750MB of mobile data.
If you pre-order before the 1st April you get a free deck stand, which can turn your mobile into an alarm clock and usefully it can also charge your mobile.
The Xperia Play also comes pre-loaded with six games; Crash Bandicoot, Fifa 10, Sims 3, Star Battalion, Tetris, and Bruce Lee.
In addition Sony Ericsson is planning to add up to 60 games, which will be available by next year on the Playstation suite.
The new mobile is the first to be certified with the Playstation name and comes with a sliding game-pad that has a d-pad, four face buttons, two shoulder buttons and two analogue touch-pads.
The phone also has a 4-inch touch screen running at a resolution of 480×854 pixels, a 5.1 mega-pixel camera and is powered by a 1GHz mobile processor in combination with an Adreno GPU graphics processor (GPU).
As well as being available to pre-order from Vodafone, it can also be pre-ordered from the Tesco Phone Shop on Vodafone on a £30 a month contract. This 24 month contract gives you 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data.
Although you’re saving £5 a month the data allowance is just 500MB, whereas Vodafone’s own deal gives you a bit more at 750MB a month. Worth bearing in mind if you are quite the data-user, especially if you’re planning on downloading games over 3G.
Also there’s no free gift, whereas Vodafone’s deal includes the Sony Ericsson DK 300 docking station for the first thousand people who place a pre-order.
The Xperia Play will begin shipping on the 31st March, 2011.
