Exclusive Fortnite skin also available
The Honor View 20, as you’ll know from our review, is one heck of a smartphone. Not only does it offer cutting-edge power and a unique ‘hole-punch’ screen which removes the needs for a notch, it costs significantly less than the competition. If you’re on the fence about upgrading to Honor’s new flagship, then this latest piece of gaming news might sway you.
Honor and Epic have confirmed that the View 20 will be one of the first Android devices to support 60FPS in Fortnite, and will also be getting an update which improves the refresh rate in-game, bumping it up to 60Hz.
60FPS is the highest frame rate available on Fortnite, and – once combined with the improved refresh rate, will provide an ‘unbelievably smooth gaming performance.’ This means that players will get the best possible experience from Fortnite on the Honor View 20, making it one of the most appealing options for fans looking for the perfect gaming phone. To celebrate this news, Honor and Epic have teamed up to release an exclusive Fortnite skin called the Honor Guard, which can only be obtained by owning the View 20 handset.
“”Epic believes delivering high-quality experiences like Fortnite on smartphones is important for the future of games,” said Epic CEO Tim Sweeney. “”The HONOR View 20 is an outstanding piece of hardware, and through this collaboration, we’re excited to announce Fortnite runs at 60 frames per second on the Honor View20.””
The relationship between Honor and Epic goes beyond this, however; the two companies are working together to optimise ‘select Honor devices’ for Epic’s Unreal Engine 4 as part of their ‘commitment to push the limits of mobile gaming and bring a console-like experience to gamers everywhere.”
Honor, for its part, is pushing the View 20 as the perfect gaming phone for Android fans, citing the powerful Kirin 980 AI chipset, roomy 6.4-inch display, Triple Antenna Wi-Fi, Liquid Cooling Technology and large 4,000 mAh battery as key selling points for mobile thrill-seekers. The cooling tech, in particular, could be very useful, as it will keep the phone at an acceptable temperature during those intense gaming sessions.
Furthermore, Honor is keen to stress that its GPU Turbo technology optimises the gaming experience for several other leading games, including PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds), Arena of Valor, Rules of Survival, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Vainglory and Asphalt 9: Legend.
