The cost of Sony Ericsson Xperia Play games will be between £1 to £2 for smaller games, with bigger, more development-intensive offerings costing up to £10.

In an interview with MCV, Christopher Dring, Sony Ericsson’s UK Marketing head honcho, went on to talk about the six launch games each device will come pre-loaded with:

“FIFA 10 – which will be the first time FIFA will be multiplayer on a smartphone – Crash Bandicoot, The Sims 3, Star Battalion, Bruce Lee Dragon Warriors and Tetris.

“There will be over 50 other titles available for download from launch and we’ll add more every month,” he continued.

As we previously covered, the Xperia Play’s main draw for gamers is its ability to play Playstation games via the Playstation Suite, a feature that has now been confirmed.

“There will be over 50 other titles available for download from launch and we’ll add more every month.

“They are not all PSOne games, some are new titles that have been repurposed for Xperia Play.”

We got our hands on the device at Mobile World Congress 2011, and were quite impressed. Though the hardware isn’t anything to write home about, in terms of sheer numbers, the slide-out Playstation controls could really benefit mobile games.

Vodafone has confirmed the Xperia Play, which can be pre-ordered now from its website, will be available for free if you take out a 24 month contract at £35 a month. For your money you get 900 minutes, unlimited texts and 750MB of mobile data.

The Tesco Phone Shop on Vodafone is also offering a two year £30 a month contract, giving you 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data.
