Vodafone has confirmed the UK release date for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and Arc. Both devices are landing on April 1 and will be available for free on select 24-month contracts.
As you may well know, there’s been a lot of talk about the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play – AKA the PlayStation phone – and the Sony Ericsson Arc ever since the devices were first announced.
Both are Android 2.3-powered and feature specs that leave little to be desired, including 1GHz processors, masses of storage and those all important Android Gingerbread tweaks.
Vodafone is also keen to impress that the first 1,000 UK users to pre-order either of the devices will get a free Sony Ericsson DK300 multimedia docking station.
We’ve seen both the devices in action and can attest to their quality – it really looks like Sony Ericsson has got its act together with its 2011 range of smartphones.
Here’s the Vodafone tariff breakdown:
Xperia Play will be free on £35, 24 month price plans, including 900 minutes, unlimited texts and 750MB of mobile data, as well as up to 25MB of data roaming in selected European countries when ordered online.
The Xperia Arc will be free on £30, 24 month price plans, including 600 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of mobile data.
But if gaming is not your thing and you want something a little more streamlined, then you’ll be pleased to know that the Arc measures just 8.7mm at its thinnest point.
As we said, both devices will launch on Android 2.3, so you’ll be joining an elite club of Android users – just 0.4 per cent of handsets are Gingerbread ones at present.
So, there you have it – the release date and tariff details of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and Arc.
