PlayStation emulator PSX4Droid has officially been pulled from the Android Market.
When PSX4Droid was initially announced, a lot of users were pleased they were going to have a PlayStation emulator, but now users will have to look elsewhere for their Playstation gaming fix.
Well, not quite elsewhere. With the arrival of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play it appears as though certain emulators are being removed from the Android Market, with the applications creator ZodTTD suggesting that Google cited “Content Policy violation” as the reasoning.
However some people have been wondering if Sony is really behind their removal, with ZodTTD giving that impression. Others are blaming improper use of GPL License.
Google only offered a short statement on the matter. “We remove apps from Android Market that violate our policies.”
Although other emulators of the same nature still remain in the Android Market, namely FPSe, N64oid has also reportedly been taken down. Bad times for emulation, one of Android’s true gaming strengths.
