Three former employees from the widely respected Bizarre Creations studio have embarked on a new venture, in the form of the new development studio Hogrocket.
Hogrocket, which will be developing for iOS, PC and Mac, comprises of three staff members. Stephen Cakebreak – the creator of Geometry Wars, Peter Collier – Senior Level Designer on The Club and James Bond 007: Blood Stone and Ben Ward – community manager and later Producer.
A small group of contractors will also support the studio, of which two have won BAFTAs for their animation skills.
According to Edge as well as the studio’s own website, development is already underway for its first game but that’s all we know. You can sign up for its mailing list, or follow/befriend the studio via the wonders of social networking, but that’s it.
“We’ll give you a shout when we get this little piggy airborne…” reads the website profile.
It was rather sad to hear Bizarre Creations, creators of Gemoetry Wars and Project Gotham Racing, was closing, but it looks like some of the spirit will live on, which is at least small consolation for losing a very talented UK-based studio.
It’s worth noting this is the second studio to come from former staff members. The first, called Lucid Games, was set up by former Development Director Pete Wallace.
If you feel like seeing why the studio was rather well respected, you can download Geometry Wars on iPhone and iPad. Be warned though, the console version still reigns supreme, but they are still good fun.
Android users, there’s sadly no official game but PewPew (5/5 – Our review) is a great substitute, and also happens to be free.
