A recent email from Namco Bandai tells us its latest game, Bird Zapper!, will be coming to iPhone and the iPod Touch on March 24, later than previously announced.
Namco Bandai says the reason for the delay is to change a couple of things. “We needed to make some last-minute tweaks prior to the worldwide release,” reads the press release.
We managed to sneak a preview code of the game onto our office iPhone 4, and so far so good. Bird Zapper! certainly looks great. It also plays well – the matching up of birds of the same colour proves addictive, not just from a high-score point of view but also an aesthetical one.
Whereas most match-3 games simply remove the blocks once matched, Bird Zapper! does just that, the unfortunate avian are electrocuted in comical fashion.
Three game modes provide scope for different styles of play, and as well as the personal glory, there are leaderboards to prove your worth against players from around the world.
Bird Zapper! will cost 59p when its released on March 24, available on both iPhone and iPad. An Android version costing the same will follow ‘shortly after’.
[Update: The tweaks Namco mention refers to iPad 2 optimisation, as the device was released after its official submission]
