Windows Phone 7 has taken the homescreen one step further – there’s no grids like on the iPhone or with Android. Instead, there’s Tiles. Gloriously customisable Tiles.

Here’s all you need to know about editing, customising and changing your LG Optimus 7’s Start screen:

To pin an app:

  • From Start – flick left to App list
  • Tap and hold the App you want, tap Pin to Start

To pin a website:

  • Open the website you want
  • Tap More, then Pin to Start

To pin a location:

  • From Start – flick left to App list, then tap Maps
  • Type the location you want
  • Tap the flag on your location, then tap Pin

To unpin a tile:

  • Tap and hold the unwanted tile
  • Tap Unpin

How much space do you want between tiles? Do you want one tile in each row or do you want to use all the available space? It’s as easy as flick (for the direction you want the screen to move), tap (to open or launch), and pan (to move through screens and menus at your own rate)

To change accent colour:

  • From Start – tap the arrow to go to App list, then tap Settings
  • Tap Theme
  • Tap Accent Color list
  • Tap the colour you want and check out your new theme colour in the highlight sentence- you’ll see your accent colour in places like tiles, web links, and your App list

To change background theme:

  • From Start – tap the arrow to go to App list, then tap Settings
  • Tap Theme
  • Tap Background list
  • Tap Dark to make your background black; tap Light to make your background white
