New images of the leaked Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 smartphone appear to confirm that the device is indeed the one pictured in our report last week.
There seems to be an awful lot of holes in mobile manufacturer bucket’s nowadays, and the latest word on the X2 is that whilst it will come shipped with Windows Mobile 6.5, its Xperia panels should support running the new Windows 7 Mobile OS when it makes it to market.
The info was posted, along with pictures taken from Fanklub.se, over at the Mobile-Review.com forums.
Aside from the info we already knew, like its 8.1-megapixel snapper and 3.5-inch WVGA OLED touchscreen display, the ‘insider’ also revealed that the X2 will feature a custom version of Windows Mobile 6.5 that “runs very, very speedy, in par with the iPhone and better in some cases”.
It seems Sony Ericsson is toiling away at the Xperia panel system too, promising “plenty of innovative features”, including a remote play function for the PS3.
It is reported that the phone’s official announcement will hit on the 16th June but, needless to say, it’s just a rumour at this point.
